Travel Plans
If you are planning a trip
outside the United States, are you aware of health risks you may
face at your specific destination? Do you know if certain
vaccinations will be required? Are you aware of how to
protect yourself from food and waterborne disease?
This and many other questions can be answered at the
Salina-Saline County Health Department through our Foreign
Travel Consultations Service. This is done by appointment,
which includes an assessment of the client's current health
status and immunization history to determine vaccine needs. Recommend-ations for vaccines are made in accordance with the
Center for Disease Control guidelines. Traveler health and
safety concerns are discussed, and malaria prophylaxis
(prevention) is recommended according to risk based on itinerary
of travel with the country. These appointments typically
last one-half to one hour per person. This allows time to
discuss all concerns, complete official documentation, and
administer indicated immunizations.
Vacines offered for Foreign Travel are hepatitis A, Hepatitius
B, Meningicoccal Vaccines, MMR, Penumococcal Vaccine, Polio,
Rabies, Tb skin test, Tdap, Td, Typhoid oral and injectable,
Varicella and Yellow Fever.
