Do I need to make an appointment prior to coming to the Health Department?

Yes. Some services, such as WIC, Foreign Travel Immunizations, require appointments. It is best to call the health department prior to coming to find out is an appointment is necessary.

 

Will you bill my insurance company?

Call in advance to check if we are able to bill your insurance, and bring your insurance card to your appointment.

 

Do you offer Expectant Parent Classes?

We have Expectant Parent Classes. They are five sessions and held in the evening. Please call 785-826-6602 for more information and to schedule for the classes.

 

How do I apply for WIC?

Please call 785-826-6602 to schedule an appointment. Once you are scheduled, staff will send you important information for you to complete and bring with you to your appointment

 

Where can I find out about job openings at the Health Department?

We always advertise in the Salina Journal for any job openings. You may also call the administration office at 785-826-6600 to inquire about job opportunities.

 

How do I get a birth certificate?

You can pick up an application in our administration office, or you can go online at www.kdheks.gov/vital/birth.html

 

Who do I contact about home health services?

The Salina-Saline County Home Health Agency is located at the Health Department. If you or someone you know needs home health services, please call 785-826-6606 to request the services.

 

I am building a home in the country. Who do I contact about locations for a well and septic system?

Please call our Environmental Health Department at 785-826-6604. They will help you through the required permitting process.

 

I am going to be traveling overseas and am not sure if I need any shots before I go. Can you help?

Please contact our clinic services at 785-826-6602. One of our nurses will help you determine what immunizations might be required or recommended for your trip. The immunization process may take a few weeks, so please call as many weeks as possible before your trip.

 


How do I start a day care for children?
 If you are interested in opening a child care facility , please call the child care surveyor to register for an orientation. All materials for the class are provided. Please do not bring children to the class. An individual orientation may be given to anyone unable to attend a class.
 
How do I learn about specific health conditions?
There are many resources on this web site, especially in the Health Education Section.  Telephone information is available at the National Institutes of Health website or the  National Library of Medicine website
